Most see Seoul as a city of skyscrapers, endless apartment buildings, congested traffic and hoards of people. In fact, this picture is accurate. For example, the Seoul National Capital Area has about 25 million people, or nearly half of the population of South Korea. Seoul itself has more than ten million, making it one of the top ten largest cities in the world. With an area of only around 600 km2, it also has the third highest population density in the world. Because of this, living vertically in high-rise apartments is common, creating a true concrete jungle.
