Yu Gwan-sun is one of the Korean independence activists during the period of Japanese occupation, as well as one of the respected moral leader in South Korea. She was born in 1902 in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do province. She was arrested while distributing Korean flags to the crowd and leading the demonstration in the Aunae Market at the age of sixteen. Lim Myeong-sun, Korean local historian suggests that by looking at her [records], it shows that she was one of the leaders of the Aunae Marketplace demonstration. (Arirang TV, 2014, 39:42).
