본문내용

“Primitive Selves” and “Tokeiso” capture a common technique employed by the Japanese imperialists during their occupation of Korea and Taiwan that is collecting colonial knowledge in pursuit of an effective governance of the colonial subject.
Japanese imperialists promise with honeyed words to their colonial subjects for equal rights and treatments and shared identity and culture as a one nation in order to ‘use’ the natives and to fulfill their colonial functional utility while leaving the distance or distinction between the “civilized” and the “uncivilized”.
