When I took part in teaching practicum this April, I had opportunities to teach the main reading passage of the text book. The design and content syllabus of the text book was very elaborate and motivated compared with the past text book I studied in my high school days, but I was a little disappointed because students were only focus on interpreting sentences and the meanings of words. They hardly used reading strategies and were not staged in a step by step manner from general to specific, easy to difficult, and concrete to abstract. Also, they wanted to read another reading passages other than the reading passages in the text book. Thus, I thought that using another reading teaching materials other than the text book would be better in my future classroom. Finding some books appropriate for teaching highschool students, I got to discover the teaching material "ACTIVE Skills for Reading: Book 3".
