This essay will focus on analyzing ethical and style problem presented in Toyota recall letter. Toyota recall letter was sent to the Toyota buyers in January 2010. I will be referencing style matter mainly to William’s Style.
Toyota announced recall on eight selected models to correct sticking accelerator pedals. At the time of this announcement, another recall was already going on for different Toyota models which people are easily confused of. At the end of the letter, it says it is different from another campaign that is going on regarding pedal entrapment by floor mat. It puts the least important information to the last that it gives priority to the information by order.
The letter begins with a brief explanation of recall service. It is written in plain English that it is relatively easy to understand; however, it is written in third person point of view that it sets distance between the audience and the writer. The audience does not feel involved in the action as much as when the writing is in a second or a first person.
