5 Methodology in the classroom
Curriculum is composed of syllabus design, methodology, and evaluation. Among them, the methodology is the main part of this chapter. The methodology is focusing on classroom techniques and procedures. On the other hand, syllabus design is focusing on the content selection and evaluation is on the learning outcomes.
B. Develop your own personal methodology.
· The search for the "one best method" is elusive, and proved to be futile.
· The same techniques might be used by teachers, but their ordering and emphasis would be different.
Ex) While one teacher might correct answer explicitly, others might model the correct utterance.
· The practices are not fixed, but they can be changed according to circumstances, students, and levels of experience.
· So, experiment a range of practices. Try out new ideas. Record your lessons. Observe your teaching.
Keep a reflective journal and set out observation, questions, challenges, and puzzles.
