South Korea is located in East Asia on the southern half of the Korean Peninsula. South Korea is one of the Asian countries that have changed most recent past few centuries. South Korea’s capital city is Seoul. South Korea has unique culture, food, and language than other Asian countries. This paper is to help people understand about Korea and also anyone who are interested in learning about South Korea or planning to travel there in the near future. In this paper, you will find a destination profile, an overview of the tourism industry, attractions that motivate tourists, the major target markets, and the other requirements you should know.
○ History of Korea
With the defeat of Japan in 1945, the United Nations developed plans for a trusteeship administration by the Soviet Union and the United States, but the plan was soon abandoned. In 1948, new governments were established, the democratic South Korea and Communist North Korea divided at the 38th parallel. The first major event for South Korea was the electing of Syngman Rhee as President. However, following the launch of Stalin, these two emerging countries went into war as North Korea attacked June 25, 1950, known as the Korean War. This resulted in a truce in 1953. (Korea.net 2009)

Second target is family travelers, from ages 35 to 50, who is married and have kids (2008). They stay around 5- 8 days and look for family union though traveling (Kang et al., 2003). They have stable income and spending is high. Places for them to visit are Lotte World, Kyongbokkung, and Seoul tower. The family traveler likes to stay in the integrated hotel, providing a variety of facilities such as spa, swimming pool, and gym; therefore, that can satisfy the need of diverse individual within a family (Kang et al., 2003)
