Not A Sin
“Would you like to have the super size? Or the regular size? It will cost only twenty-five cents more.” I have heard it a million times. They always ask me the same question. Sometimes, it gets annoying. But I always end up answering “Yes” - I am a sucker for good deals. I cannot help it. It is no wonder Americans are so fat. According to Time Magazine, “Fully two-thirds of U.S. adults are officially overweight, and about half of those have graduated to full-blown obesity. The rates for African Americans and Latinos are even higher. Among kids between 6 and 19 years old, 15%, or 1 in 6, are overweight, and another 15% are headed that way. Even our pets are pudgy: a depressing 25% of dogs and cats are heavier than they should be.” But the obesity phenomena cannot simply be linked to overeating. There are many hidden forces that we, fat Americans, cannot see. Obesity is not a flaw of character because there are many forces that an average person cannot ignore such as maternal
