 Tell to Ss about story that happened because of pronunciation mistake between /r/ and /l/.

I heard some funny story from my friend . One day she went to restaurant with Canadian friends to have dinner. She wanted to eat rice and chicken salad . So she said to waiter “Can I get rice and chicken salad?”. After order, suddenly Canadian friends start to laugh. Why they’re laughing? Can you guess? Because my friend has poor pronunciation skills about /r/ and /l/. She said to waiter “Can I get lice and chicken salad?”

Procedure:

Review the /r/ and /l/ sounds.
• How do I make /r/ sound?
• How are my tongue? [ curl my tongue up and back]
• Do I use my voice? [ yes]

Ss make sound and pronounce the word.

[ Rack, Ram, Rise, Brew, Bread]
Ss repeat after other Ss


• How do I make /l/ sound?
• How are my tongue?[ tongue tip touches the back of my upper teeth]
• Do I use my voice? [Yes]


Ss make sound and pronounce the word.

[ Lack, lamb, lies, blue, bled]

Ss repeat after other Ss


Ok, Today we learned about /r/ and /l/ sounds.
I think you guys are really good at pronounce /r/ and /l/ sounds.
And today you have a homework.
Memorize one of tongue twister that we practice and present to the class tomorrow. Ok ?
