I’m sure sometimes, people wonders where did all these medicines come from. If you want to answer the question, you have to trace back to the Renaissance period, the start base of medical miracles. I’ll start from middle of the Renaissance period which is 16thcentury. In beginning of 1500s, A young medical student, born in Brussels, attended anatomy lectures in the university of Paris. His name is known as Vesalius. Vesalius dissected corpses and trusted the evidences of what he found. His method was highly controversial, but later was appointed as professor of surgery and anatomy at the University of Padua. In 1540, Vesalius gave a presentation of the inaccuracies of Galen’s theories about anatomy. By the time, Galen’s method was widely known and used. Galen experimented most of his works on apes. But Vesalius used corpses and showed that Galen’s observations are correct for the ape, but little bit different to the human. In Switzerland, Vesalius published his work- De humani corporis fabrica which means The Structure of the Human Body. There were 7 volumes and was an immediate success. Galen’s followers were raged. However, for the first time, human beings truly realized what’s under their skin and what’s hidden in their body.
