In this essay I intend to reflect personal study challenges, study methods and results with regards to interpreting practice. Last July, I became a student again in two and a half years. During my work period I was contented with my status and ambiance however I decided to pursue my educational goal since I knew that the status and ambiance were not what I eager to have for my life. I opened a new chapter of my life at Macquarie University as I enrolled a master course and that is how I started interpreting practice. During last semester I encountered many unexpected challenges such as getting a good study partner, adopting myself in a new environment, managing time properly, overcoming cultural differences, founding background knowledge in a variety of fields and so on. As a result I had to develop my personal strategies to cope with above matters so I came to find out various study methods e.g. shadowing, dictation, reading, practicing interpreting, memory extension et cetera. By those means my English proficiency has been enhanced as I acquired critical thinking method and ability in analyzing however I believe my competence is not yet quite discovered.
