T.S Eliot의 The Waste Land의 독자비평방식의 Criticism (영문자료)

Karma and reincarnation are main ideas of Buddhism. Buddhists think this world where we live is 苦海(Ko Hea) which means sea of pain. After death, depending on karma which we established during our life, we reincarnate into six different forms and come back to this sea of pain again. This is often expressed as a wheel of reincarnation where we are trapped in so there is no way we can escape from this but just going round and round.
‘The Waste Land’ is very famous even in Asia. Especially the first line ‘April is the cruelest month’ is often quoted in many places. However, this does not mean ‘Waste Land’ is well-understood by public. It is still very complicated and abstruse poem. Therefore I am trying to apply concept of Buddhism, which has been main culture and religion of Asia for more than 1,500 years, into the poem to bridge in between this grand Western masterpiece and Asian culture to help understanding of Asian and to show cross cultural view to Westerners.
