3700 Phosphates/Organophosphorus compounds containing the P-O-H group are very strongly hydrogen bonded, and the O-H stretching mode produces a very broad band, extending more or less continuously from as high as 3700 to as low as 1450, and on which are superimposed several absorption maxima.
3600 O-H, Alcohols, Phenols, Free, 3600~3650
3600 Alkyl aromatic sulfonic acids/The S-OH group is characterized by broad absorption extending over the region 3600~2000 and below.
3600 Fatty acids/Antisymmetric (OH)2 stretching; broad absorption extending over the region ~3600~2200 with a submaxumum near 2680. The submaximum presumably results from a combination tone in Fermi resorance with (OH)2 stretching.
3475 Fatty esters/The secondary hydroxyl group (CHOH) exhibits intermolecularly hydrogen bonded O-H stretching near 3475 and C-O stretching near 1125.
3450 Polyalkoxylated phenols/Polyalkoxylated phenols and polyalkoxylated alkylphenols exhibit OH stretching for the CH2OH end group near 3450.
3450 Glycerol fatty esters/The triesters do not exhibit absorption from O-H stretching.(The weak absorption near 3450 in the triesters results from the first overtone of ester carbonyl stretching).
3440 Other sulfated and sulfonated materials/Bands near 3440 and 1625 are due to water of hydration.
3400 Glycerol fatty esters/The broad band in the region 3400~3450 results from intermolecularly hydrogen bonded OH stretching, and the absorbance ratio of the OH stretching band/carbonyl stretching band decreases in the series mono, di, and triester.
