Myposter is a subsidiary of Oh-yang Systems, a group of several companies dealing in artworks, software and international trade. The parent company was first founded as an intermediary company purchasing semi-conductor manufacturing equipment from the USA and then reselling them to companies such as Samsung Electronics.
In 1996, aquisition of Miraero Systems was accomplished, enabling the development of web-software. Myposter was launched in 1999 to test the waters in e-commerce. What started out as a try-out turned out to be a relative success, putting Myposter at the top of the online poster and frame industry. Since then, various competitors have emerged with better funding and market reach. It is now ranked number 8 in the online posters / frame industry with 3.65% of market shares. Myposter does not meet requirements to be listed on any stock market. It employs 6 employees and the online poster / frame industry is still small compared to the offline market.
Despite this, Ohyang Systems is investing heavily on Myposter because it represents immense future possibilities. At Myposter, they claim that their strong point is the diversity of products offered and the fact that the customer directly and actively contributes to the completion of the final product. Indeed it is the only website among the top ten in the industry that offers such extensive variety and customization.
