Standard AFM : annular structure is qualitatively similar in appearance to the subunits of elongated protofibrils, and thus it is reasonable to speculate that the annular structure is a headto-tail loop of a short protofibril.
SWNT tip : annular Aβ structure has 18~21nm diameter while protofibrils is greater than 200nm.
Height of annular structure is 5.8nm and protofibil is 4~5nm.
