Why the Reformation Failed
The Reformation of Tiberius and Gaius Graccus and Why it Failed.
Hegel classified the progress of world history by how advanced the degree of freedom was. According to Hegel’s classification, in the ancient oriental nations, only one was free [Einer ist frei], in Greece and Rome few were free [Einige sind frei], and in German Christian societies the people finally became free as a human being. [Der Mensch als Mensch ist frei.] These advances didn’t just come out of nowhere. In fact, there have been a lot of reforms since mankind arose on this planet. Whether they were big or small, active or passive, they all played a role in changing the world. However, not all reforms were a brilliant success. One example of these failures is the reformation the Gracchi attempted in Rome in the 2nd century B.C.E.
