The importance of the foreign languages education can’t be emphasized too much in order to cope with the stream of globalized and multipolarized world and to extend our international competitiveness. However, even though the Korean government has been throwing out various policies for globalization, it is true that the second foreign language education at the high school is being stagnated at present. Therefore we would like to propose some remedies for the second foreign language education at the high school.
The government policy is to educate at least two foreign languages to students before they graduate high school so they can obtain ability to go out in the international world. They say the meaning of increasing the foreign language education is to prepare for the globalization but the actual education given in the high school classes is formal and getting neglected in an entrance examination-centered educational system.
