◈ Clinical examination & findings
The peroneal nerve is commonly injured at the fibular head because of traumatic or compressive lesions.
In sciatic nerve injures, the peroneal portion of this nerve is often selectively involved with trauma secondary to hip fractures or dislocation.
The clinical differential between sciatic nerve lesions and common peroneal nerve lesions is the involvement of the short head of the biceps femor and possible findings of weakness in tibial nerve innervated musculature.
