The middle class in general did not render full support but only a limited affirmation to the students` movements. They did not give overwhelming support to the students` movements. Because one of the most compelling demands of the students was to improve the working condition of the workers in general. Although they are more doubtful, however they agree to the general proposition that the real goal of the student movement lies in achieving democracy. the fifth Republic was so thorough and firmly controlled through the press as well as broadcasting. It made the middle classes have a high level of critical view. The Korean middle class is generally progressive and affirmative of the students` or intellectuals` movements.
