Gyeongju contains most of the historic remains of Korea's 5000 year history. Gyeongju is located 370 kilometers southeast of Seoul, and is 1,323 square kilometers in size.
It has a population of 291,000 as of January 2001. This city belongs to Gyeongsangbuk-do administratively and is composed of 4 towns, 8 townships and 13 villages. The City Hall buildings are located at Nodong-dong and Dongcheon-dong.
Because Gyeongju extends over a wide area, the weather differs slightly by region.
