THE EDUCATIONAL SIGNIFICANCE OF THE INTERNET
LANGUAGE SKILLS BASED ON THE INTERNET
On the field of language teaching, multimedia educational technology, especially the Internet, becomes a big issue because of its value and potentiality for English Education these days. According to Leloup & Ponterio (1998), the Internet is suitable for language learning like English. Actually, it can give a huge amount of relevant material for English teachers. Teachers can have various materials through the Internet without restraint of time, distance, money, and so on. Especially, this educational medium which focus on not texts but audio-visual materials is more efficient for students than any others. Raimes (1983) described that a language in language teaching must be a language of real life because it’s the language of communication itself. Therefore, a class has to focus on teaching students, learning a real language rather than grammatical rules, developing an interaction, and considering characters, progresses, and environment of learners.
