Aims and perspectives
This book is about technology and its application in medicine. It describes a field of scientific effort which 25 years ago would hardly have been recognized; now, however, so many possibility exist for biomedical engineering that evaluating priorities between the many and various problems awaiting solution must be a continuing task for the medical engineer and for those who have to allocate resources.
The engineer has a role in medicine only because he has something to offer - which arise out of the basic nature of technology. Technology always has two important elements
