With only 13 years of history, Asiana Airline has grown as a formidable figure in the Korean airline industry, despite the presence of the monopolistic Korean Airline, boasting it뭩 30 years of history. Asiana has steadily grown with the fresh brand image and new airplanes, accompanied with high quality services. Examining the domestic airlines, the two Korean companies are almost in an equal position. However, when comparing the number of international airlines, airplanes, and employees, Asiana is outstripped by Korean Air, especially in the number of Airplanes (More than twice), which translates into less market share. Competition with foreign airline companies is also expected to increase, with more foreign companies entering Korea due to the opening of Inchon International airport, a hub airport of North-east Asia.
